As you feel a little bit better...
Real Self List
Drawing up a Real Self List is a useful technique for clearing your mind and reminding yourself of your priorities for the day. When your mind is clear it is amazing how you discover new ideas, people and places to provide you with the solutions you want.
First, take a piece of paper and draw a margin down the left-hand side of the page and a margin across the top. At the top of the left-hand side write “Me”, and on the right-hand side write the best word for you that symbolises something you can hand over your problems to. You may want to call it the Real Self, Life, the Creator, my Higher Power, God or even “the angels”. Whatever feels good for you.
On the left-hand side write down what you are going to do – those practices and techniques – that will allow you to relax and be tuned into your Real Self. In the example below are meditation (Focal-point technique), physical exercise and deep breathing, with more suggestions to be found throughout this level. You may also add any other things you already do to relax and get “in the zone”. Gardening, for example, swimming or other sports can all be effective ways to get you “in”. For some people even cleaning or doing the washing-up can almost be like a meditation. So write down whatever you do personally that works for you.
On the other side of the margin, write down everything you’d like to hand over to the Universe/Life/Real Self, meaning all your troubles in the form of a request. Just throw them all out on the right side. Don’t hide anything – all those “shameful” parts of yourself you might not have told anyone – just throw them out there. Or write down phrases such as: “Bring my body into perfect balance, now”, “Allow me to be confident”, “Bring me peace” or “Get me to fully relax”. You may also want to ask the Universe to “Bring me new insights, ideas and solutions”. Or any loved ones or relationships on your mind – just hand it all over: “Sort out my relationship with Jenny” or “Give me a new perspective on my relationship with Justin”.
The list might look like this:
